English:

- Read your novel. First reading response is due Thursday at midnight. The assignment is on the GC
Math:
- Grade 7 + 8: TEST on Thursday- HOMEWORK for tonight:
A number increased by 20% is written as 1.2n
e.g. If the number (n) is 40, then 1.2 x 40 = 48 (a 20% increase)
PROOF:
Difference/original x 100
= (48-40)/40 x 100
= 8/40 x 100
= 0.2 x 100
= 20 (20% increase)
SO...
- A number increased by 50% is written as 1.5n
- A number increased by 80% is written as 1.8n
a. What is the pattern?
b. How would you write: "A number is increased by 90%"?
c. How would you write: "A number is increased by 5%"?
d. How would you write: "A number is DECREASED by 20%"?
e. How would you write: "Five more than a number is a 25% increase (of that number)?"
- Practice balancing equations: I have posted an assignment on the GC with MULTIPLE equation balance games. After playing several of the games, try the final link (XP Math - Math Games Arcade...) as it serves as an excellent test of your knowledge.
