Housekeeping:

English:

- Read my notes from the visit to Aurora High School

- Passion Projects (#1) are due Thursday, November 14.

- Grade 7: Finish the Egghead questions (92-94).  TURN IT IN!

-  Grade 8: Finish the reflection from Aurora High.  TURN IT IN!

Math:
- Grade 7: 139-142  * (same message as below)

- Grade 8: 137-140   *Students were given 25 minutes to do this in class.  As well, they were instructed to read through all of the questions and ask me for clarification if they didn't understand HOW to do a question.   As such, your child should be able to do every question tonight.

- Times Tables : we did the baseline evaluation.  If you scored less than perfect you will need to practice DAILY your times tables. The app for the evaluation is here: 30 questions, numbers 1-10, and 5 seconds per question.

History:

- Tableaux will be presented TOMORROW.  Be sure you and your group are ready!

- Grade 7 quiz next week on Sainte-Marie Among the Hurons.  Students were given a list of questions (which were taken up with Ms. Woodhead).  The quiz will be multiple choice.

- Grade 8 quiz next week on the reasons for and against Confederation.  Multiple choice.

- TWITN for this week: Dawson, Nathan, Dorsa, and Hunter.  This is tomorrow

French:
- Join the Duolingo Classroom!  Check it out on the GC!

- Brochures are now too late to turn in.  

Science:

Housekeeping :  -  KUDOS:  to  QOTD: " GOOD NEWS VIEWS:  English: - Read your novel 30 minutes / night - Ted Talks.  Be ready to rock.  Practice it many times (and in many different ways) this weekend.  Look at the rubric. -  -  Math: -  On Wednesday we will run our interviews for Data Management.  Students were given a pretty good idea of the questions today - ask your child if they remember any of them! -  -    Geography : - Grade 8: Canadian Citizenship test - some kids didn't finish it - Grade 7 and 8: TUESDAY!   There will be a map of Canada test for our first geography class.  Students need to know all provinces, territories, and capital cities.  For a higher level, they have to be able to draw the provincial divisions on a blank map of Canada.  Here is are a few links for you to practice: 1.   link  (this one tests your ability to ident...

Housekeeping :  - Your child's diagnostic results came home in a SEALED envelope.  Please read it over, sign the tear-away portion, and return it to me.  If I have any serious concerns I will be contacting you to set up a quick meeting.  - Next week (Thursday) is "Meet the Creature"/"Meet the Teacher" night.  I will be in my class around 5:30 if you would like to come up and chat.  This is not time to discuss your child's individual progress (save that for the veggies aisle of No Frills!).  This evening is to go over the plans for the year, discuss how I evaluate, and ensure everyone is on the same page. - Cell phones...the lunchtime supervisor has notified me that she has seen (on many occasions) the grade 8s in my class on their phones during lunch.  This is my final warning: NO cell phones except for when we are using them for classroom purposes (which is RARE and is under my supervision).  Parents/Guardians, please have a discussion...

Housekeeping : Grade 8s: Bring a baby photo or an electronic version of that photo + bring a candid shot.  "Hand" these in to Nika by Friday, April 3rd. Grade 8 Grad: June 16th.
